Dinner for a good cause at Delancey Street Restaurant San Francisco
Delancey Street Foundation is a charity specializing in helping former substance abusers, ex-convicts and the homeless start a new life. One of a number of businesses they operate is the Delancey Street restaurant which is a teaching school for cooks, restaurant managers and wait staff.
Located near the AT&T Ballpark, the restaurant is popular among local businesses using their function rooms for catered business meetings. The food I would consider classic american with a southern spin.
- Crab Cake appetizer - Moist, not a lot of fillers which is good
- Drunken Shrimp - served with a dallop of rice and nice cajun flavor
- Grilled Lamb Chops
- New York Strip Steak
- Slow braised lamb shank
- Grilled tuna with Soba noodles
- Cheese blintzes
- Fruit crisps
- Warm Chocolate pudding cake
The restaurant offers good service, a nice variety of food at a very reasonable price. Corkage was only $9, and you know what you are paying for goes to a good cause.
If you ever wonder what that restaurant is all about, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
